5 Dive Watches To Invest In Now
As the summer hots up, cool off with the latest dive watch styles. A dive watch needs to be practical, robust, legible and highly water resistant, but it also needs to look good on the wrist. With a fantastic array on offer, we’ve picked out five blue dial dive watches, which offer a great alternative to black. Superb for the summer, blue is a softer colour against the skin and looks good with more casual denim attire or shorts for the beach.
We spoke to The watch Gallery expert Christine Borg-Mirza to find out her top five dive watch styles this summer…
TAG HEUER AQUARACER
TAG Heuer’s Aquaracer is a sports watch designed for the sea and one of the most iconic watches in the collecion. A great price point at just over two thousand pounds, this dive watch is both lightweight, practical and water resistant to 300m.
Featuring a TAG Calibre 16 automatic chronograph movement and uni-directional bezel – a timing device used for divers – it comes on a stylish stainless steel bracelet strap.
Bremont’s Supermarine watch is incredibly well priced and in my opinion, you get a lot for your money. With a Certified Chronometer Movement, meaning it has been C.O.S.C tested (the independent Swiss body which tests the movement to ensure its accuracy), this watch has been made from hardened steel, making it seven times harder than anything else on the market.
The movement is cased in a Faraday cage, which makes it highly anti-shock resistant and robust. With superluminova coated luminsecent green hands and markers, the dial is really clear to read under water and the 43mm size is practical for most wrists.
BREITLING SUPEROCEAN HERITAGE
This Breitling Superocean Heritage watch picks up from the style of the late ’50’s, when the original Supercoean was created, but has been re-designed and modernised with the larger 46mm size of a sports watch.
Featuring a lovely mesh bracelet which complements the ’50’s era, and a polished finish, it has a smarter style so can be dressed up or dressed down. A chronograph is also a great timing device, so good for on land sports as well.
IWC’s Aquatimer features a uni-directional rotating bezel with sapphire crystal glass and is very highly scratch resistant. IWC is not a mass produced brand, so if you’re looking for something less commercial then this is a great watch to go for.
It features a day date chronograph, 44mm case, orange marker for the seconds and screw down crown. You can also easily un-clip the rubber strap and clip on a bracelet, which instantly creates two different looks.
Of all the dive watches, the Rolex Submariner is probably the most iconic in the world. Launched in 1953, during the pioneering era for scuba diving, it is certainly one of the most collectable watches to own. Rolex always takes it to another level in terms of materials and this watch comes in white gold, with a 40mm case.
With water resistancy to 300m, it features a magnified date and cyclops eye, a famous feature for this style. Rolex is not available to buy online from Authorised Retailers, to find out your nearest stockist visit our Rolex page »
