Happy Chinese New Year
This lunar year brings the year of the dog that are universally seen as creatures of loyalty and trust, which inherently encourage the boosting of unity and collaboration.
The festival is celebrated either in January or February because the Chinese use a lunar calendar, which is based on the movement of the moon.
Although the lunar year occurs in the winter, it is called the Spring Festival or the “start of spring”, marking the end of the coldest part of winter, when the Chinese traditionally look forward to the beginning of spring.
Follow the lunar moon this year with our selection of watches from JLC.
RENDEZ-VOUS – Q3572420
The Rendez-Vous collection was released for those seeking an alternative to the rectangular Reverso. This watch is characterised by its round case shape and takes inspiration from the Master Control. The striking Arabic numerals are slightly exaggerated which is customary for this collection and the dial has an opulent guilloché pattern. This watch shows a trend towards less frilly, larger women’s watches and the night and day indication is perfect to celebrate the start of the lunar year.
MASTER ULTRA THIN – Q1252501
It isn’t always easy to find a modern watch with a modest diameter and elegant round shape. This Jaeger-LeCoultre combines a sleek design with thin complications and moon dial. The vibrant red strap is considered auspicious for the Chinese making this wristwatch a discerning choice for anyone celebrating the lunar year.
The Master Calendar series is based on the early years of triple-calendar moon-phase pieces from the late 1940s and early 1950s. This Master watch has remained central to JLC’s larger Master collection. Looking to exemplify its tradition as the go-to “watchmaker’s watch” this dapper wristwatch channels its ancestry while the distinct dial layout is wholly modern. It’s the perfect watch for year-round wear and will pair seamlessly with any outfit.
