Introducing the IWC Portugieser Hand-Wound 8 Days

The term ‘celluloid style’ often conjures images of Humphrey Bogart cracking the case or Lauren Bacall seductively reclining (mandatory cigarette in hand, of course) – but what does such a term mean for the watch world? Well, IWC Schauffhausen and the British Film Institute have a perfect answer – and it’s been made exclusively for The Watch Gallery.

As haute horlogerie celebrates cinema once more, we’re proud to unveil an exclusive collaboration between IWC Schaffhausen and the British Film Institute – enter the IWC Portugieser Hand-Wound 8 Days. Created exclusively for The Watch Gallery to celebrate this year’s London Film Festival, this incredible piece has been limited to a mere 59 pieces worldwide. And that’s not all.

Each stainless steel piece has been individually numbered according to production run with an elegant inscription to the open case-back. Protected by luxury crystal sapphire glass, the inner workings and mechanics of the Portugieser Hand-Wound 8 Days can be clearly viewed. Additionally, the classic silver plated dial is perfectly mounted upon a signature alligator blue Satoni strap whilst the sizeable 43mm diameter provides a subtle statement on the wrist.
