Rolex makes an appearance in the Presidents Official portrait
When any U.S President has finished their tem in office, a portrait is commissioned, painted and hung in the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Yesterday, Barack Obama’s official portrait was unveiled at a ceremony in D.C. and the colourful and remarkable portrait is completely striking. Something very noticeable is the watch on the President’s wrist; he is of course wearing a Rolex.
Only half concealed by his neat cuff, the watch he wears is a Rolex Cellini. A 39mm time-only watch with a white gold case and a timeless alligator strap. During his presidency Obama was spotted in a variety of less expensive watches.
This isn’t the first time President Obama has been spotted wearing a Rolex, he was first photographed in a Cellini in 2007 at the Invictus Games with Prince Harry. The fact the watch makes an appearance in the official portrait is testament to Rolex’s classic, timeless reputation and President Obama’s fondness of the brand.
