The Evolution of the Hublot Exclusive
In true Watch Gallery style, its all guns blazing for our exclusive Hublot Classic Fusion Limited Edition – but, believe it or not, these things don’t just appear out of thin air.
The piece itself came about through months of preparation, planning and hard work in order to present the very finest collaboration possible. From The Watch Gallery‘s London office to the Hublot HQ in Switzerland, we’ve been awash with excitement for the big launch. But, what really does make the Classic Fusion Limited Edition tick? Well, it takes a lot more than a couple of AA batteries.
On a very basic level, The Watch Gallery team wanted to offer our visitors something a little different without tip-toeing into gimmickry. A watch that doubles up as a cigar lighter may seem like a good idea on paper, but in practise, it probably belongs in a market on the Costa Del Sol. To that end, we aimed to create something that offers the craftsmanship of Swiss haute horlogerie with all of the understated appeal of a sportswatch. Treading the line between an everyday and statement timepiece is no easy feat yet Hublot presented the perfect solution to our conundrum: a total reimagining of the iconic Classic Fusion. Bold monochrome titanium countered with a pop of colour for a both a classic and contemporary watch – it doesn’t get much better than that.
Central to the timepiece is Hublot’s innovative self-winding movement – the HUB1155. This impressive mechanism comprises 207 parts and 60 jewels with a huge power reserve of 42 hours. A skeleton design provides a further glance into the inner workings of the Classic Fusion that includes a microblasted rhodium plated face plate with additional microblasted black plated bridges. Furthermore, this intricate timepiece beats at 28,800 vph – an achievement that even the mightiest of manufactures wouldn’t scoff at.
The features of the exclusive itself include a chronograph/stopwatch facility that offers a large central ‘H’ logo as a counterweight with 30 minute sub-dial counter located at the 9 o’clock position. An additional small-seconds sub-dial located at the 3 o’clock position provides an additional facet of expertise that takes timekeeping to the next level; the Classic Fusion Limited Edition is expertly crafted in the quest for ultimate accuracy.
As is tradition with all past Watch Gallery collaborations, our iconic blue colour runs throughout the watch. Lacquered counter rings proudly display this signature shade with a seconds hand tying the entire piece together with the same hue. A semi-matte black alligator strap is grounded with a black rubber base for luxury and comfort – two words rarely seen together in the same sentence. And, to keep the same blue motif recurrent, coloured stitching provides a perfect border to your wrist.
Sapphire crystal glass and water resistance to 30m all further clarifty the Classic Fusion Limited Edition as a standout piece, and the expertise doesn’t end there: think a bold 45mm case, ceramic bezel, deployment buckle clasp complete with a caseback engraving to show exactly which model you own. And, with just a mere 25 in production, you better be quick. This iconic piece is available in the Wonder Room at Selfridges London, The Watch Gallery at Westfield White City, Selfridges Manchester Exchange and of course, here online at The Watch Gallery. Ladies and gentlemen, form an orderly queue.
