Tissot Launches #RespectTheRef

It is often said that despite it’s brutal nature and physicality, rugby is a game played by gentlemen. As the sport grows in popularity, evolving from its amateur form to a professional multi-million-pound industry, this is something that rugby lovers hope won’t change. With the conversation regarding respect being ever more prevalent, not only in this sport, the values and integrity of this gentleman’s game must be preserved.

Tissot has a long-standing relationship with the sport, as Official Timekeeper of the RBS 6 Nations Championship for the last 5 years. Working to highlight the importance of maintaining respect in play, Tissot are launching the #RespectTheRef campaign, in partnership with legendary referee Nigel Owens MBE, during the RBS 6 Nations.

“There are many things that make rugby unique and one of rugby’s core values is its ethos of respect for all in the game. It is imperative that we uphold this important value of rugby, I am delighted to work with Tissot and support #RespectTheRef”- Nigel Owens, MBE.

A referees’ job is never easy, but the respect of players and fans should be given. Tissot is committed to ensuring all #RespectTheRef and that the safety and sportsmanship of the game are preserved.

“The RBS 6 Nations Championship is the perfect partnership for Tissot as the sport of rugby demonstrates many of the core values of the brand, such as teamwork, respect, discipline and a love for sport. Tissot is very proud of that and would like to contribute to upholding those values and the respect of the game with the campaign #RespectTheRef and the help of renowned rugby union referee Nigel Owens”- François Thiébaud, President of Tissot.
