Tissot Named Official Timekeeper of Rugby World Cup 2015
As an industry leader in accessible Swiss watches, Tissot is applying the old horological expertise to an even bigger playing field – the Rugby World Cup 2015 to be precise.
Set to be a record breaker of a tournament in terms of attendance and international viewing, the Rugby World Cup has already kicked off with aplomb as Ireland smash Romania at 44-10 and likely team Australia take the win with 65-3 over Uruguay. Although England have been lukewarm thus far (anything is better than our national football team, after all), there’s nothing better than bringing the ball back to Blighty with the final poised for November the 1st.
Tissot taking the timekeeper mantle is an obvious choice for both brand and sport: whilst timing numerous rugby events across the world, there’s plenty of experience to be had. Dynamic designs such as the Tissot T-Touch Expert Solar places innovation within a sporting design and as the rugby world makes leaps and bounds in progression, so too does the official timekeeper.
World Rugby Chief Executive Office, Brett Gosper, said of the appointment: “We are delighted that Tissot has joined the global Rugby World Cup 2015 commercial family. The investment of another brand sector leader further underscores the tremendous appeal of England 2015 in the global marketplace.” We couldn’t agree more.
And needless to say, Tissot’s own president François Thiébaud is rather thrilled too (let’s be honest, the advertising is pretty mega): “We are very proud to be part of the Rugby World Cup 2015. The sport of rugby in itself demonstrates many of our company values such as teamwork and individual performance at the same time, respect, discipline and a love of sport. Furthermore, this tournament in particular is the perfect platform to showcase our expertise in a thrilling international environment.”
