Venice Film Festival
Founded in 1932, The Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world and considered one of the “Big Three” alongside the Berlin International Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival. This year the festivities takes place at the Venice Lido from August 30th to September 9th, 2017.
Since 2006 Jaeger-LeCoultre has collaborated with The Venice Film Festival to present a “Glory to the Filmmaker Award” – a dedication to individuals who have brought great innovation to contemporary cinema. This year the award will be presented to British director Stephen Frears, best known for The Queen and Philomena – given before the world premier e of his new film, Victoria and Abdul.
Jaeger-LeCoultre watches have graced the silver screen year on year. Most recognised is the timeless Reverso, worn by Don Draper in Mad Men, sported by Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight Rises while continually making red carpet appearances. Aside from the Reverso, the entire Jaeger-LeCoultre collection is designed to bring film-star panache to the wrist.
Jaeger’s most recent line, the Rendez-Vous collection displays a very unique complication, a night and day indication displayed at six o’clock. The sun represents the day, illustrated with an animated planet, while the night’s moon shows a crescent and stars. It’s a given that this complication isn’t entirely necessary but it does connects any watch wearer to mankind’s most simple form of time-keeping; the sun and the moon.
With 180 years of watchmaking expertise owning a Jaeger-LeCoultre brings aesthetic beauty, unparalleled craftsmanship and technical innovation that will complement the wrist of any discerning dresser.
